clay pigeon | Montreal indie folk recording project. 'The Aching Taste of Blue' out now
-BIO-
clay pigeon is the moniker and songwriting vehicle of canadian musician James Clayton. It is also a band and collection of friends based in montreal that create music on a regular basis. James' musical past is a mixed bag, from cutting his teeth in the Berlin open mic scene and gigging around Europe, relocating to Montreal, an offhand appearance on Canadian reality tv (?), to working as a touring guitarist for Canadian bands including The Franklin Electric, Sasha Cay, and maxime. When a mutual friend introduced James to recording engineer Howard Bilerman the two agreed to make a record at his historic studio hotel2tango. With a band assembled of new and old friends and a handful of songs written during the dreary Montreal winter, the project's debut LP “The Aching Taste of Blue” was born. Since the albums release James and the band have continued touring and writing new material for the project.
